Road Checks Lead To Felony Arrest

 

 

 

 

Swainsboro Police Department periodically conducts license check point for multiple reasons.  This type of enforcement event is usually conducted during the periods of time that has the highest probability of success.  More often than not officers not only find violations of traffic laws but encounter more serious criminal violations during these selected enforcement events.

On the evening of February 2 at 11:36p.m., while conducting a road check on Calhoun Street, Swainsboro, Georgia, officers encountered a Nissan Altima occupied by four individuals.  Upon approaching the vehicle officers detected evidence of drug paraphernalia located inside the vehicle.  All occupants where removed from the vehicle.  During the vehicle search law enforcement officers located a substantial quantity of the substance believe to be Crystal Methamphetamine.  All occupants were detained by officers on scene as personel of the agency Drug Suppression Unit were requested.

The Drug Suppression Unit arrived and conducted a more thorough investigation leading to the following charges of Drug trafficking-Methamphetamine Sale and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity. The evidence has a street value of $5,500.00.  Those arrested were Jasmine Brooks Edge, age 19 of 460 Collins Road, Lyons, Georgia and Isaac Hunter Lyles, age 18 of 1542 Francis Bridge Rd, Davisboro, Georgia.

This case remains under investigation by the Swainsboro Police Department Drug Suppression Unit .
